The Women?s Fellowship Committee has designed the following plan to help those in our congregation who need a meal due to illness, recent hospitalization, or after a funeral. This is truly a mercy ministry. Every member of Covenant Presbyterian is now assigned to a Care Group, and each Care Group has a Meal Organizer (see below) who will arrange one meal for the person or family in need.In other words, the Care Group will care for one another. Please remember, the information about the recipient of the meal ALWAYS originates from the Church Office.Meals for a family after the birth of a child are organized through the church Nursery.
MEALS FLOW CHART:
1) The Church Office calls the appropriate Care Group Meal Organizer. 2) The Meal Organizer calls the person or family in need. 3) The Meal Organizer calls others in the Care Group for help.
Questions for the Meals Organizer to ask the person or family in need:
Can we prepare a meal for you?
How many are to be fed?
Are there any dietary restrictions?
When is a convenient time and day to deliver meal?
Meal Organizers will:
Call 3 or 4 people from the Care Group (depending on the size of the family receiving the meal) and ask them to make one side item, bread, or dessert and to bring it to the church at a designated time. The Women?s Fellowship Committee will provide the meat (i.e., a roast or ham) by means of financial reimbursement, if that is best.
Arrange time and place for the food to be dropped off.
Ask someone from the group to deliver the meal.
The above plan works best if the meal is for a family. If the meal is for one of our widows/widowers or other single members, they would be swimming in food. Some other options are:
Ask one person from the care group to make soup, or a small casserole and take it to the person in need. This does not need to be done by the Meal Organizer.
The Women?s Fellowship Committee now has a Freezer Meal System setup in the extra refrigerator in the Church Kitchen. These meals are small, homemade, and ready to be used. Consider taking one of these meals to the one in need.
